Your money will go to PROGRAMMING. We keep the finances efficient; we don’t do overhead or waste.
Every dollar will make a difference. Again, we’re not a big budget operation.
Ase uses Saturdays – most people’s day off – to change lives.
Ase has been going strong for 12 years, largely through the efforts of college students (who mentor/teach), young Penn alumni (who serve on Ase’s board and/or administer the program), and your financial support.
Ase is a one-of-kind campus-based institution with the potential to expand to other schools and communities. This is the next level that we’re in the process of reaching.
“Ase helped me see wonderful things in my child that I wasn’t even aware of.” This is a quote that a parent made, in tears, about her daughter who found her voice in Ase and later went on to receive a number of college scholarship offers. I never forget those words, and the many other stories over the years.
Ase believes that college access can best happen on a college campus through college students, grads, faculty, and others, in partnership with school counselors, parents, and teachers. This is how we raise the village.
Ase has helped place over 80% of its 8th graders in academically-rigorous public and charter high schools in Philadelphia, helping them take critical steps closer to college and personal empowerment.
Ase students are exposed to college-readiness skills and information beginning in their first year of the program (grade 6).

The New Common Application

The new 2010-2011 Common Application is now available here.

Over 415 colleges accept this application both online and in print versions, but it is important to note that not all schools accept it. Last year, nearly 2 million applications were submitted via the Common App online system.

Now is a good time (before the start of school in September) for rising seniors to familiarize themselves with the application and any supplementary information or essays that their prospective colleges require and to fill out the personal profile section (name, address, etc.). The website is very user-friendly and features a helpful Common App Online Demo that walks you through the process.
