Staff

The Ase Academy staff, referred to as “The Ase Family,” is comprised of a full time Executive Director and a cadre of 35-45 work-study and volunteer college students. The staff at Ase Academy commit their Saturdays to working with young people, referred to as “Brothers and Sisters,” exemplifying the concept “I am my brother’s/sister’s keeper.” The staff also commit to trainings, weekly meetings, and ongoing personal and professional development to maintain the standard of excellence we require in our mentors.

The Ase Academy is designed to support not only our middle school and high school students, but our college students as well, creating a vibrant “each one, reach one, teach one” mentality whereby college students can support each other in their commitment to excellence and community development. Through extended community support, continuous training, and mentorship, the Ase staff members are nurtured in order to continue the work they are doing both on campus and off.

Presently, only 56% of U.S. undergrads finish college after 6 years. For Black, Latino, and low-income students, the graduation rate is below 50%. Ase Academy boasts a 98% 4 year graduation rate for our staff members.

We welcome students from across the University who are committed and willing to volunteer their time to equality in education and excellence. Through our partnership with the Netter Center for Community Partnerships, and countless community members, we are able to provide work-study support for those whose are willing to commit their passion, time, and energy to improving our communities.

Remember, Many hands make the work lighter…and there is still much work to be done!
